Sustainable Tourism

Sustainability is pivotal to all our operations. We at Bedouin Oasis understand that to offer quality services it is of prime importance to be responsible for the conservation and protection of the environment around us. Today, the watchword for good relationships with our constituents like tour operators, cruise liners and corporate houses and the guests who avail of our services is the ability to offer responsible experiences and substantiate our sustainability stance. We are at an advantage since we have right from our inception kept the tenets of sustainability in focus and met all the requirements of our stakeholders.

Our Steps Forward

We have taken careful steps towards achieving sustainability in many areas:

  • We have considerably reduced our plastic waste
  • Garbage segregation and wastewater recycling have been carried out as per conservation norms
  • Our staff and management periodically organize and participate in desert-cleanup campaigns
  • We have professionals as a sustainability manager, environment manager and experienced and well-trained staff in the green team.
  • We follow several stringent criteria in sustainability management when it comes to our management, operations and suppliers.
  • We work with a focus on achieving the top certification for sustainability management

Our Sustainability Mission

As a socially and environmentally conscious company, we look forward to maintaining sustainable practices in our operations and paving the way for responsible tourism. We make sure that our business operations empower travellers and the local people to put into effect environment-friendly steps in areas where they are travelling, staying or living. We take care to meet all economical and social needs while sustaining the historical, cultural and environmental resources of the places which are worth visiting. We believe in extending sustainability initiatives as we lead by example and inspire our suppliers and stakeholder to do the same.

Perfecting the Policy

Our sustainability policy is based on the tenet that all business operations should be carried out along ethical lines and involve economic, social and environmental sustainability. The policy is what drives our efforts at delivering our services in the most committed manner. All our services and products undergo innovation and introduction based on this policy.

Animal Wellbeing

Anywhere in the world animals are a vital part of destination-based business and their welfare is of prime importance. The animals that are a part of our business ventures are used and maintained based on the five freedom formula outlined in the Global Welfare Guidance for animals in tourism. According to the norms, five freedoms include access to food and water, a suitable living environment, good health, an opportunity to exhibit their natural behaviour and finally protection from fear and distress.

Promoting Emirati Cultural Heritage

We pride ourselves in the fact that our Desert Safaris are programmed around introduce visitors to the nuances of the Bedouin way of life in the desert. We make it a point to bring forth the art, culture and tradition of the Bedouin people at the Bedouin Oasis Camp through structures, decor, food and various activities. Even the camel rides and desert safaris bring the guests closer to daily life in the desert and its trials, tribulations and success.

Finest Destination UAE

Today the United Arab   Emirates or the UAE is one of the most favoured destinations for any traveller with its many attractions including imposing architecture, history, culture, entertainment, lifestyle and of course shopping. The federation of seven emirates of the UAE came into being in 1971 on the wings of resourcing massive oil and natural gas reserves over the decades. The leadership of these emirates spent a large part of its new-found revenue on infrastructure development and tourism. The result was that the UAE became one of the most sought-after and magical places to visit for travellers from across the world. The growth and development continue in the present times too and makes the future look even brighter.

Green Energy Initiative

Bedouin Oasis Camp as part of the sustainability policy does not have any sort of conventional energy like electricity. The camp instead used solar panels and windmills around the camp to generate its energy. Clean and green energy is used throughout all activities in the camp and for lighting purposes during the night.

Forbidden Souvenirs

When visitors and travellers buy souvenirs from the locals and gift shops it’s good for the local economy, but unfortunately, many of these souvenirs are of endangered animals and plants or made out of their body parts. Animal and plant species from the desert are protected and often they suffer due to clandestine trade in them. The souvenirs include live animals, animal skins, animal parts, horns,  large shells, turtles, snakes, lizards, butterflies and many plants and flowers specific to the desert region. UAE laws prohibit the trade in these souvenirs and products made of them, hence guests are warned against buying or possessing them.
